Starting Yellow Ribbon Program at your School

Getting Approved:

GATHER INFORMATION
a) The more the better
b) Read over all the Yellow Ribbon information

TALK TO PEOPLE AT YOUR SCHOOL - GET SUPPORT FROM YOUR PEERS.
a) A petition is a very good show of support
b) Get at least one strong supporter from the staff (teacher, counselor, principal, etc.)

MAKE A PROPOSAL
a) Describe what Yellow Ribbon is
b) Bring peer and staff supporter
c) Present your proposal, information, and petition

GO TO YOUR SCHOOLS PROGRAM DIRECTOR
a) Set up a meeting
b) Bring a peer and staff supporter
c) Present your proposal, information and petition

After you get approved:

ORDER THE CARDS, GET THE RIBBON, AND COPY THE HANDOUTS
a) Order cards from Yellow Ribbon Int'l with your local phone number(s)
b) The money can be donated by local prevention organizations
c) Ribbon for everyone (can be donated by fabric stores and florist)
d) Copy the handouts to be given out with the cards and Ribbons

SET THE DATE FOR YOUR EVENT
a) Set a day to hand out all materials
b) On the handout date state the message of the Yellow Ribbon clearly to everyone.
